GDE ® - Electrode Gas Diffusion

Gas Diffusion Electrodes are composed of carbon cloth or carbon paper and a micro-porous layer of carbon nanoparticles and polymer PTFE (Teflon®). It makes the GDE hydrophobic to reduce the flooding problems. Over this layer, is applied a catalyst ink, with Platinum nanoparticles (Ø std. of 3.0 nanometers) anchored over the carbon, and liquid Nafion® (a hydrophilic polymer).

These electrodes are usually used in polymeric fuel cells "PEMFC - Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell".

Novocell offers GDE's on both substrates, carbon cloth (GDL-ELAT manufactured by NUVANT) or carbon paper (GDS manufactured by AvCarb), at industrial scale, serving customers since Research and Development Laboratories to large industries Fuel Cell Manufacturers.
